Hi All

I got my ITA. For my personal history section, I don't remember the exact dates and place (apartment number) where I have lived in the last 10 years. For e.g. I believed I stayed in AirBnb for a few weeks with friends (who did the bookings) and then rented a few places for few months and then went to my home for a couple of years in a different country altogether.

Are we really supposed to know the exact dates and places of our stay? What should I do in such a case?

Its better to provide the addresses and months where you lived more than a month. From my view, there is no need to provide addresses of a few days or less than a week of stay in hotel or AirBnb. If you are traveler you will provide all your travel information in your travel history.

In my perspective, I traveled to different countries and returned back home, so personal history will be listed with only my home address, whereas the travel history will list down all travel details.

In case someone doesn't recollect or remember the addresses of all places and / or start and end date of where he or she lived for some duration during the past 10 years. What happens then? Can someone comment on this usecase?

You should declare as much as you remember without falsifying any information. If immigration officer is not convinced or be suspicious, he might ask you for additional information. Also you dont have to be precise in dates, as the form requests only the month and year. The basic need for this is to check any criminal proceedings on you while your stay in that particular location. If the stay was longer in a particular location, you may be asked for police clearance certificate in that region/country.

Just to clarify, when I say I don't remember the exact place or the duration of the stay I meant a different city but within the same country. I have a passport that shows international travel history and also obtained a police certificate for that country already which shows no adverse data against me. I will ofcourse declare as much as I can remember but I don't think I will have any proof of my stay.

Would this be okay?

Great! this is fine. Please go ahead and declare what you remember. No proof's required for your stay, as they will not be requested.

Write down what you remember as close as possible, then specify this in your LoE, I had the same issue with flights I took nearly 10 years ago, just mentioned that due to not having my passport anymore I couldn't exactly now the exact days. Just explain all you do.

Also if I am visiting my cousins or extended family members or friends for a few days in another city in the same country for which I have acquired police clearance doc, do I still need to remember those addresses and mention all of them? or does the rental agreement of the address have to be on my name for address history?

What about when I went back home during summer break. I went out of country for almost 5 months once to live with parents and 2 other times for a month each.
Other than that I’ve been moving within the country which I’ve provided addresses and dates for.

I’ve been living in Canada since 18 and have only been in the home country for those 5 months. I’m not even sure if I will need a police verification as they say you need it if you live in a country for 6 months or more

Not required. As I mentioned earlier, you wont be asked for any proof like rental agreement for your stay.

Its better to mention about your 5 months travel out of country and get a police clearance as well. Just to be on safer side and make the life of officer easier.
