Hi Experts,
Can you please help me with clarification on the list of documents that are needed for proof of funds during landing. The documentation in the cic website is a bit confusing:
cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp

Some websites state that only cash and demand draft are permitted as valid proof of funds. Some say bank statement, traveller's cheques, stock statements, traveller's card are permitted as proof of funds. Can you please help provide clarity on this:

I plan to show the following documents as proof of funds:
a) Demat account statement for stocks (from indian bank)
b) latest attested bank statement (from indian bank) and bring international debit card
c) traveller's card loaded with Canadian dollars (with a statement of the balance)

Can you please comment on whether these are permitted or it needs to be only in cash and demand draft. Any inputs will be immensely helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Hi bgsubram,

I am landing next week and going through the same thoughts.

I will be taking my bank letter (on their letterhead) which states my name, account number, details of amounts of funds etc etc. I think that should suffice as a bank statement (plus I'm printing my bank statements for the last 3 months).

I think the cash section you are referring to is what you're carrying on yourself at the time of landing (e.g. if greater than CAD 10000, then you've to declare etc).

I assume your landing is already done? How was your experience?

Hi,
the bank statements and bank letter will suffice...
if you are lucky like many of us => the immigration officer will not even bother to ask for that ...

I did my landing 10 days ago and it was as smooth as eating pancakes with maple syrup ...
they just asked for the COPR and the passports and that's it ...
good luck

Congratulations! I'll have what you're having, with extra maple syrup :):)
