To shift to Canada through Express Entry as a merchant navy officer, your work experience is calculated based on actual time worked, even if you are on contract for six months at a time. You will need to provide details of each contract period and calculate the total number of months worked over the years. It's crucial to ensure your occupation matches with the National Occupational Classification (NOC) code for skilled work. Consulting an immigration advisor may help clarify how your sea time will be recognized for eligibility under the Express Entry system.
