Hi all,

I have been trying to find the cost of the express entry application?

I know how much the language test cost. But can't seem to find the fee structure anywhere. Even on CIC website. Is it the same cost as AINP ($550 each I believe), or is there a different fee for express entry?

Thanks for your help

The fee for the application is $550. There is a right to permanent residency fee if you're accepted that is $490. Other costs include language test associated costs, police clearance certificates, education credential testing fees and the medical exam. All said and done, it can cost anywhere upwards of $2200. This is for one individual.

Hi,

Thank you for the quick reply!

So I know that the $550 is per person (I will be the main applicant and my spouse is dependent). Will the $490 fee just be for me as the principal applicant, or do both of us have to pay the right to permanent residency fee? Not actually heard anything of this fee. Had only read about the other costs you described and the $550 fee. Presume this fee is just related to express entry?

"b) The Right of Permanent Residence fee

The right of permanent residence fee is $490.00 per person. There is no fee for dependent children.

You will need to pay this fee if we approve your application.

Note: paying this fee early can help speed up the processing of your application, so it’ s a good idea to submit it when you apply.

If you don’t pay it when you submit your application , you must pay this fee before we issue any permanent resident documents to you.

We will refund this fee if you withdraw your application or if you do not use your visa."

Does anyone know what the WES cost is? I have two degrees, do I pay per degree or is it a flat fee?

You're right, all these fees are starting to add up!

Thanks again. Feel like it slightly contradicts itself. It says, Transcripts: To be sent directly to WES by the institutions attended. Then it says, don't send original copies unless we request this. I am hoping that I don't have to get my university in England to send transcripts directly to WES? That would probably take 5-6 months.

I think the originals they are referring to are your Degrees. They only require copies of those which you should send to their office directly.
This is what the WES website states in terms of Qualifications earned in England:

Required Documents
1. Clear, legible photocopies of all degree certificates issued by the institutions attended
e.g. Bachelor, Master, Postgraduate Diploma, Ph.D.
How to Send Documents
To be submitted to WES by applicant.

Required Documents
2. Transcript of academic records issued by the institutions attended - showing all subjects completed and all grades/marks awarded for all years of post-secondary study
How to Send Documents
To be sent directly to WES by the institutions attended

Note: If your university uses either Digitary® or Gradintel for electronic document delivery to WES, please review special instructions. -- this is an important point to note, it might speed up your processing. You should definitely check this out.

Starting to get a little worried about how to expedite this. My university have said that they will not in any circumstances send the letter direct to WES. The only way they will do it is to send it to me and then I forward it to WES.

So I assume your University does not participate in electronic document delivery then?
If they don't then your best option is to ask your University to comply with the following requirements set out for Indian Universities and hope that WES will accept it:
"If the document is given to you to forward to WES, it must be attested & dated and placed in an official sealed envelope that is signed or stamped across the back flap by the appropriate authentication officer at the university or autonomous college that conducted the examination. If the envelope has been opened or there is no stamp or signature across the back flap, the document will not be accepted by WES."

I hope things will work out for you.

Unfortunately they don't, would be great if they did. They seem to offer a similar service if you use there Education Evaluation provider, but unfortunately that isn't WES.

Thanks again for all your help!

One last thing. Do you have to submit your WES before your Express Entry Profile is complete? I.e. I confirmed with my university and they said I will receive my official transcripts within 4-5 weeks. From then its another 20 days for WES to process the application.

Does that mean it will be 8 weeks from now until I can actually set my Profile up? Or does it just mean, it'll be 8 weeks before I can use my foreign education as part of my points for express entry?

Presuming that WES don't have to verify my Canadian education or anything? Do I just have to send a copy of transcripts in to CIC?

You will need WES reference number and date of certification from WES. Both these details will be required while creating your EE profile.
Based upon those information itself your total points will be calculated for submission in EE pool for ITA

If you qualify under CEC then your ECA is not mandatory, so you will be able to complete your profile and enter the pool. However, if you only qualify for FSW then your ECA is mandatory to complete your profile and you will not be allowed to enter the pool until you provide your ECA details.

One other suggestion, do you know anyone in England that could possibly go to your University and collect your transcript in person?
