Hi Friends,

I have a genuine query. I am starting my application and havenot even submitted it. I am seeing that you score more points if you apply as single person arriving to Canada, as compared to the married case.
While I do want my spouse to accompany me, I have these clarifications. Would highly appreciate response to them.

1. Can I apply with selecting 'Married', but then further choosing that spouse won't accompany me? Later on when I get selected or get a call, I can fill application for me and my spouse both. Is this even possible or not?
2. In option one what if I move to Canada and later on call my spouse? Are there any challenges to it? If yes then what are those challenges?

Would appreciate clarifications on the above. I need help as I don't want to go through those consultants. They charge a lot for nothing.

Thanks in advance.

Number 1 doesn't really work as they will just recalculate your points and if it's below the cut off then you will be rejected.

Number 2 is possible, but the wait time for spouse PR is about 24 months.

Either way your spouse will have to take medicals and ielts.

It'll be easier to just add them on now. You don't loose that many points especially if your spouse has at least some work experience or education.

Just to be clear, there are no points for foreign work experience for spouse only for Canadian work experience. Education would need to be assessed separately by e.g WES which means another ECA package and associated expense.

Well, you don't HAVE to get an ECA but it will be extra points. It will still be a lot faster and easier than sponsoring them later.
