Hi Experts,

I am moving to canada in May 2020 and I did my soft landing in June 2018 and stayed only for 5 days. I read in other threads that I don't have to do taxes if I imported during landing, if not I should be paying import duty?

Also I read in another thread that if I am moving back to canada staying out of country for 12 months or more, then I will be considered similar to someone doing the landing.

Many would have encountered this. Any insight would be really helpful. Thanks in Advance.

Thanks,
Vignesh

Tax is applicable on items of value in excess of $10K. Also you need to have declared the vehicle on your GTF list.

Yes. I have declared it in GTF list previously with the vehicle number. But they asked me to talk to the exports and imports directly

Hi Experts,

I read in other threads that I don't have to do taxes if I imported during landing, if not I should be paying import duty? - Similar case. I am moving in March. As far as I know, things which are listed in GTF are durty free. Taking my car there and looking in to export & import process.

Also I read in another thread that if I am moving back to canada staying out of country for 12 months or more, then I will be considered similar to someone doing the landing. - This is new information for me. Where did you read this? Please share the link.
