I am looking for inputs from the seniors on this forum. I received an ITA and my spouse will accompany me as a dependent. In my express entry profile and in my application for PR (that I'm currently filling out), I've mentioned that I was working from May 2010 to July 2015. The background is as follows- I have been on a break since July 2015 because- I got married, moved to a different country, have been looking for a job here but havent been successful yet. There have been multiple factors that have contributed to this-
1. With my experience, I'd at least be at a Managerial level here but dont speak Arabic which is highly preferred because a lot of my work involves speaking with Arab officials in the ministry. Arabic taught in language classes is different from colloquial Arabic. So my attempt at learning Arabic didnt pan out as well as I had hoped.
2. I applied for junior positions and was told I was over qualified.
2. While my work experience covers regulatory aspects for US, EU, Canada and Japan...companies in this region focus on Africa and GCC nations. So Ive been told that that wouldnt work either.
3. My husband works in shifts and when I had to weigh between a poorly paying job because of which I would get to meet my husband once a week, I chose to wait till I found the right job. I have been open to and have been applying to allied fields and havent stuck to my work sphere so far.
While looking for jobs, I have taken up an online couse in Business analytics and have read books to improve my soft skills and knowledge base.
My question is- I have been honest in my EE profile but would being jobless for close to 2 years, reduce my chances of getting a PR? This question has been keeping me awake nights. Can someone out there, please share their wisdom or the thought process of an immigration officer when evaluating my application?
Also, I'd be grateful for any suggestions on explaining this in the letter of explanation. I dont want to sound like Im making excuses but want to justify my merit as a PR applicant forCanada.
