Hi ! My Son is 17yrs old and his PR card expired in 2011. He received his PR status when he was 4 yrs old but due to family circumstances we had to get him back for his Schooling in India. Now he wants to go back with the help of Travel Document (If possible on H& C terms) but once he lands with the TD and an Expired PR card, how long will it take to get the fresh PR card? (If another 730 days then it would be difficult to leave the country & also in case he want to study in Ireland & Australia or any other country it would be difficult to move out) Kindly help ! How can he get is new PR card asap? Thx

So just to clarify your son wants to claim his PR status should be retained on an H&C basis get a new PR card and then leave the country straight away without establishing any residency. Would education not be good enough in Canada versus Ireland or Australia or some other reason for those specific countries ?

Getting domestic study rates and a PR card without meeting RO is incredibly generous of Canada since it doesn’t sound like your family has been working and paying taxes in Canada for his lifetime. There is no point trying to secure PR for your child if they want to study elsewhere because they won’t be able to meet there RO after studying abroad for 4 years.
