My girlfriend an I are going through the spousal sponsorship process but we don't have much time until her travel visa expires (2 weeks). We've managed to pretty much get every other required document together but there is a problem with the birth certificate. Birth certificates from her country (Brazil) actually expire. Will Immigration Canada recognize an expired birth certificate, because if not it will take more than 2 weeks to acquire a new one and translate it.

I have never heard of a birth certificate that expires!
