Expired and Valid Passport?

Should I attach my previous expired passport along with my valid passport in one pdf file in online submission of documents or just use the valid one only.?

I've heard that you only need to attach your expired passport with the new one if it had been stamped with a visa. If your expired passport doesn't contain any visa then you don't need to attach it with the new one.

Thanks my previous passport did not contain any visas. I will attach only valid one.
