My friends come to study here in canada , something bad happens to his familly so he wasn't able to study and he find a job to work and support his parent now his visa is expired been 6 month and he want to stay to work and support his familly otherwise he s on relationship with an american canadian girl , if he got married with her he can stay here and reside

Is he working part time or full time ? Technically if you are not enrolled in university/school you are not allowed to work.
This will create problems even if you apply for PR.

He has to restore or extend his visa to stay in Canada.

He may or he may not be able to remain in Canada and reside.

If she is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, then she can sponsor him for permanent residency. However he should expect his application will be examined very closely due to the fact that he came to Canada and didn't study - and then overstayed and worked illegally. This will make CIC suspect that their relationship isn't genuine and he is just using her to remain in Canada long term. So he should expect their application to be reviewed very closely. He should provide as much evidence as possible to prove the relationship is real.
