You do not need to inform to CIC about your travel.

For outland applicant, There is no any specific rule about how many days you can stay outside Canada. (So do not worry - but do not stay there permanent) (maximum 2-3 months vacation should be alright)

Keep all your boarding passes and hotel booking, movie ticket, restaurants bills, etc while you are your wife go somewhere in home country. (collect all proof while you guys are together)

And also take lot's of pictures while both of you are together. Sometime CIC ask about proof that you have visited your wife after marriage.

Good luck and Happy journey !!

If you are a citizen, you don't have to worry about time.

If you are a PR of Canada, you must remain in Canada while her application is in process. Given your post history, looks like your a PR...

Because it's a requirement to be eligible to sponsor, if they had issued a SA, and found you left, they can terminate your case. In which case, you'd have to reapply.

Here is the IRPA for sponsors:
http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/sor-2002-227/page-24.html#h-72

Here is the CIC processing guide (a little old, but the rule hasn't changed): https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/ip/ip02-eng.pdf&ved=0ahUKEwj3r_uzg5nTAhWMx4MKHSCJBqQQFggaMAA&usg=AFQjCNH-ogjqW4BVi9wkk0M4NazCCjziXA&sig2=r5nCDXHPvN-8FF9_GFiSWQ
See pg 15 or 5.10.

And SA is Sponsorship Approval.

You can also search this forum. People have reported refusals for this very reason.

thanks for the info buddy.5.10 point says PR cannot sponsor if living outside canada

but PR application of my wife is already in process....and i plan to visit for like 2 weeks....so that means I cannot visit her at all till her PR is competed??

Reside. So in CIC terms, that includes temporary residency (like Visitors).

That's correct. One such story was someone who went home for a few days to tie up a few loose ends for his employer. He was refused. And only for a few days

I had this question too..thanks for inputs....I found this rule so illogical...I mean waiting for a year
..too much...wonder whats rationale for such a rule for outland sponsorship...

Now, you said "meet my wife". You meant spend time with her, right? Like you had already met before (and we're at the wedding together), right?

I'm only asking, because you said meet (almost like for the first time, is what it seemed to me). For the sake of stating it, IRCC does not recognize marriages by proxy. You both must physically be present. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1081&top=14

Best of luck!

It's only a rule for PR. Citizens can sponsor while not even living in Canada.

There certainly must be justification. Otherwise they wouldn't waste tax dollars on writing and maintaining the rule..
