Dear all,
I am in a complicated situation due to this COVID-19.
I am now in a work visa that expires on Sept 1, 2020.
After this, I was thinking my PR application (Family class) will be approved by this date.
If not accepted, I was thinking to leave Canada to the US (I have visitor US visa) and re-enter to Canada because my wife and kids are living here (Wife: PR and kids: Canadian citizen) as I have a visitor visa of Canada valid until 2026.

My questions are:
(I) How can I change my status from a worker to a visitor without leaving Canada?
(2) If (1) is not possible, what should I do to enter Canada in this Corona crisis?
or Can I go to the US by CAR and re-enter Canada as a visitor? Since I have visitor visa of both countries.

(3) Is there is any way to stay here legally after Sept 1, 2020 (my current work visa expires) please suggest?

Thanks and sincerely.

Apply to change your status to visitor:

Syllia,
Thanks for your suggestion. Yes, I have read them. They mentioned that I have to apply before 30 days before my current visa expires which I missed this chance due to the misinformation ( as my work visa expires on Sept 1, 2020).
If I apply now for a visitor record and if they do not respond before Sept 1 and I live here after my work visa expires, do you think I will out of status or do you suggest me to leave Canada if they do not give me the permission before Sept 1( my work visa expires).

The 30 days is a guideline and not a rule. You just have to make sure the application reaches IRCC before your current visa expires. As long as you get the application in before September 1, you will have implied status and will be able to stay legally in Canada.

You mention that you have been sponsored for PR through family class. Did you apply inland or outland? If you applied inland, you qualify for an open work permit.

Thanks, Scylla for your valuable feedback. I applied PR (family class) outland as I was not in Canada when I applied.
I will apply today (as I am collecting documents) anyway.
Do you have any idea if there is another way that I can re-use a temporary visa while being in Canada?
Changing (extending) the status means they will issue me a new temporary visa, right?

I don't understand what you mean by re-using a temporary visa.

I would not recommend that you leave Canada at this time since you most likely won't be allowed back in (tourism is regarded as a non-essential reason for entering Canada).

To remain in Canada, you need to change your status to visitor using the information in the link I gave you previously.

Thanks. I will do it today.
