I personally am disappointed on my results as I was hoping to apply for EE for Ontario hoping to get into Management level IT jobs with my undergraduate degree in Computer Science and MBA(One more class to go).

My education and 8+ years of work has been in the USA. I have been in the US for 15 years.

I wanted to request an expert person's opinion on my score.

Listening: 6.5
Reading: 6.0
Writing: 7.5
Speaking: 8.5

Total: 7.0

It's impossible for any of us to comment on your score without knowing how you actually performed in the test.

The first question I would ask is how much you prepared for the test and what you did to prepare. A common mistake made by those who speak English well is to simply walk into the test without any studying expecting to do well. They end up scoring poorly because they failed to adequately prepare and don't understand how the scoring is structured.

If you did no or minimal prep ahead of the exam - then I would say your score accurately reflects how you performed.

That is the mistake that I did...I did not prepare for the test and did not know the test format etc.

Do you think that my score is sufficient for EE for Ontario hoping to get into Management level IT jobs?

Whether your score is sufficient depends on how many overall points you have. You need at least 400 points to have a chance of being selected by Ontario. Of course they are not issuing invitations at this time and won't start again until likely late this year.

Thanks for your quick reply. I am very new to this process and I have some very basic/silly questions for you.

  • Can you please post a link to website where they have minimum points requirements for ON and timeline for when they issue invitations?

Also do I get any points for my Native Language, How do I get tested for my native language and get points for that?

Information about the program is posted here: http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/en/pnp/

You only get points for English and French.

There is no timeline available for issuing invitations.
