Hello all,

I am a Canadian and am currently living in the United Kingdom with my English Spouse on a Spousal visa. My visa expires in April 2020 and instead of applying for Permanent Residency here, my husband and I have decided that we want to move to Canada and have a fresh start there. I am a little overwhelmed by the amount of information out there and I am slowly working my way through the application. I was looking up tips on writing a cover letter and the website strongly advised against applying if the Sponsor lived outside of Canada. I am just wondering if that means our application will likely be denied? Since my only income is in the United Kingdom (which I will have to leave to return to Canada). Is there any success stories that can be shared? Any tips for us?

Thank you in advance!

From personal experience, I can attest that spousal sponsorship by a Canadian citizen in the UK is perfectly possible.
Pretty much the only likely stumbling block will be in convincing IRCC that the Canadian citizen will return to reside in Canada once PR is granted.
You will need to provide a convincing narrative, ideally backed by solid evidence of activities related to returning, such as job/accommodation searches etc.

Agree with above. Perfectly fine for a Canadian citizen to apply from abroad.

Don't bother with a cover letter. Everything you need to explain is covered in the app.
