Hey guys,

So I'm on a PGWP with about two years left on it. I came to Canada to study Audio Engineering and have found it very hard to get a job in the field that pays well enough to support myself, so mainly I've been working other jobs to get by. I have no other education that would allow me to work in a NOC 0,A,B job. As the time for the expiration of my work permit gets closer, I have accepted that I won't find employment in my field and have started looking at other options.

I know a PGWP is a one time thing, so would it be a good idea to go back to school and make myself more employable? This sounds like the best option but then what would the path to a PR look like from there?

If you have any other suggestions or have been in the same boat and can offer some advice, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank you in advance.

I would use what's left of your PGWP to try your hardest to secure one year of work experience under NOC A, B or 0.

If that doesn't work out, it would probably make most sense to return to your home country and work a few years there to qualify for FSW.

Sure - you can return to school in Canada. But as you said, you can't qualify for another PGWP - and getting an LMIA after the additional schooling so that you can work will likely be extremely difficult.

Unfortunately returning to my home country is not an option, but thank you for your reply! I'm still looking for NOC 0, A, B jobs and hope to secure that year of work experience before my time is up.

Thanks again!

In that case you should definitely focus on finding a NOC A, B or 0 job now - while you're under a PGWP. It will be much harder once an LMIA is required.
