exiting canada without PR card

Hi!I was wondering if I can leave canada on a vacation in my country without my PR card yet?Im afraid that the visa that they will give me and for my child is limited and cannot extend in any circumstances. As much as possible I dont want my child which is only 8 y/o to travel 12 hrs or more alone. Somebody told me that I can apply for travel document once I got back here from vacation. Some people said that I cant leave canada not until i acquire my PR card on hand.I really need a thorough advice please..

You can have a friend mail the PR card to while you are outside Canada.

Yeah! It's quite an option but the thing is im afraid my pr card wont arrived soon before our visa expires. In that case, my child really have to come to canada before that. That gives me no choice but to let him travel alone
