I've been told that there is no record of a person when they leave Canada only by the stamps on the passport
my passport wasn't stamped on exit so if I tried to re enter again and on declaration write I left within the time of my visa expiring would they be able to find out...I stayed one month over my visa

now i'm not saying this is what I will do I want to go the right way about it but would be interesting to know, i'm sure that my passport would be flagged in some way as an overstayer so wouldn't attempt being caught

CIC has access to flight manifests. So although your passport wasn't stamped, there's definitely a record of when you left Canada and immigration has access to these records. If asked when re-entering Canada, be truthful.
