Exceeded 4 Year Limit on WP

I am on a WP with expiration in Jan 2015. I have been on a WP for more than 4 years, which is supposedly the CIC limit. I was recently laid off from my company and need to apply for a new WP with a new employer.

Since I have exceeded the 4-year limit, will the new WP application be denied or will the fact that my current WP expires in Jan 2015 allow me to get a new WP up to the same date?

1. As the 4 year rule didn't start until 01/04/11 the maximum your work permit will be is 31/03/15.
