Hello Everyone,
I have a concern regarding some documents requested for evidence of cohabitation as evidence of common-law union.
My girlfriend and I have been living together in my parents house for a while now, but since we live relatively close to her parents house, we do not have correspondence or any proof of sharing an address in the form of statements from banks or services.
I can get a letter from our landlord stating that we've been living together for more than a year now, but not sure that would be enough.
I also have a document from our government that implies that we are in a common-law union, sort of like a marriage certificate but for this type of relationship.
Anyway, my question is: would this be a problem for me in when I get my ITA? I'm currently waiting for an OINP nomination and starting to be proactive and reading about what other documents I might need later on the process. She's not included in my application anyway, so If I'm not able to prove we are a common-law union could I just drop that and change my status to single?
Sorry for the long post, but wanted to explain everything in detail, and thanks for your help in advance, there's really good people out here helping others, much appreciated.
