My team from Argentina just got invited to the next Dreamhack Montreal and we're living in the United States since January under a P1 Visa that allow us to live and work here.

Our invitation just got to us yesterday and our time is running out, we don't know to which Canadian VISA to apply and how long is going to take (the competition is from the 8 till the 9 of september).

Do we need to ask for a formal invitation and this has to be sent to any canadian immigration dept.?

Can anyone help us? This might be a chance in a lifetime.

Thanks!

You'll need to apply for a visitor visa. Yes - you should get a formal invitation letter if you can. Instructions on how to apply are here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visa.asp

You are extremely short on time and it's impossible for any of us to say how quickly the visa will be approved (unfortunately there's a good chance it won't be approved in time because you are applying so late). Processing can take anywhere from a few days to a few months. I would recommend you apply online rather than mailing in the application.

Thank u very much, I'll try asap (any kind of visa or there's a special Visa por Sports?)

You need to apply for the regular visitor visa through the link I provided above. You should try to apply as soon as you can (tonight, if possible).

Remember that this is a three day weekend - so no one is going to be working on applications Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
