Hi all
My husband's niece is finishing high school this year 2013 and wants to come to Canada to study English for 1-2 years before thinking about university in her home country, Bolivia. (I am Canadian, my husband is Bolivian and has permanent residency in Canada. We've been here for 2 years).

I have been researching private ESL courses here in Toronto and she can stay with my family while she studies.

I've been looking here on the forum but haven't found many people who are taking these types of ESL courses after coming out of high school - with the sole purpose of learning English, not for university or college study. Has anyone gone through this process?

Any thoughts on the process, the schools, the visa, etc. would be great!

Thanks

you have not found many people taking english language courses to study in canada is because it is extremely hard to get visa for such courses from some asian countries.countries like india, pakistan, bangladesh, sri lanka etc..since you have mentioned your husband's niece will be applying from bolivia which is south american country,I guess, therefore assessment might be liberal for such countries..however I am not sure if english language courses such as ESL last for a 1 or 2 year..

it's just my thought and I may be wrong.
