Hi guys! I'm going to go visit my husband in London for the first time since our marriage. How difficult is it to cross the border? Would I have trouble if they know i'm visiting my husband? Any tips for a smooth entry would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance :)

Hey noshi11,

if you're traveling on a Canadian passport, they most likely won't ask you anything. Border crossing in Europe is generally quite easy - there is not much asked (most of the times, nothing at all!). If you have a return ticket, then you'll be fine.
If you're not Canadian, and need a visa, as long as you have a visa + a return ticket, and you explain that you're coming for a visit, I don't imagine you'll have any trouble - border officers in Europe ask in general less questions than North Americans ones!
Enjoy your visit!

If you have a Canadian passport, as Sweden said, they ask fewer questions. They are definitely ruder to me than when I fly elsewhere though, lol. They're just very curt and don't care if you just flew in on the red eye.

I've gone to the UK five times in the last seven months and they never questioned my intentions. The only time I had a problem (if you can call it that) was when I flew to Gatwick instead of Heathrow and didn't have the locations of the hotels I was staying at. They always ask me the following questions:

the purpose of my trip (visiting my husband)
where my husband lives
what is my husband's occupation

sometimes they'll ask where I'm going, and the first time I flew to the UK after my marriage, the UKBA dude seemed genuinely ticked off I was sponsoring my husband to Canada and not settling in the UK (that was the only time they asked if I had a resident visa because I flew in with my husband). chillax dude. true North strong and free. geez.
