Hello all, I hope someone can help us with our situation.
I am a Canadian citizen and my wife is from Bolivia. We were married in Canada in 2010 and had our daughter in Canada while my wife was on a visitor visa. We are currently in Bolivia visiting my wife's family while I am on paternity leave and we are planning on heading back to Canada very soon. However, we have read on the CIC website that in order for my wife to now return with me and my six month old daughter to Canada, she must prove that she will return to Bolivia (if we apply for a temporary resident visa). Our intent is to stay in Canada and apply for my wife's permanent residency, and we do not want to mislead the government in our intentions. what should we do to get back in Canada without misrepresenting ourselves on a temporary resident visa application?
Currently, I am unable to work here in Bolivia and we do not want to stay here long-term. We think it is best to apply for permanent residency asap, however we do not want the application to damage our ability to return to Canada as a family. Also, we do not want to separate from each other at all and living in Bolivia is not an option. Is it possible for us to enter Canada as a family before my wife obtains permanent residency?
Thank you
