Entering Canada via land boarder with an expired PR Card?

No sure if this is the right place for this question.
I am currently renewing my PR Card and i live and work in Canada but have to go to the States using my own car crossing at the border. I cannot get my PR Card renewed in time so the question is what docs do i need to get back into canada after leaving for a few days?
Any help much appreciated

When travelling by private car, the expired PR card will do but immigration might give you some problems for not renewing it though.
