Visiting in Oct-15 ,immigrating in April 2016 Planned
My mom is visiting me. I got her the first extension of the visitor visa which is valid until April 15th. She has multiple entry visitor vis valid till 2025.
I am traveling to the UK with her on April 10th and back on April 20th. her visitor status should be valid for 6 months (till october 20th ) after her second entry on April 20th.

My dad will be joing us on supervisa around september. I will be taking them to the US in October 15th and back on october 25th. Therefore, mom's visitor visa should again be extended by 6 months.

Has anyone gone through similar experience? is there any rule on the number of days you have to be outside the country to re-enter?

Thanks,

Thanks,

The extension is only good while your mother remains in Canada. It's effectively canceled when she leaves. The extension does not guarantee re-entry into Canada for that reason. When she returns on April 20th, she will be assessed as a new visitor to Canada by CBSA. Her extension will be irrelevant since she will have left Canada. It's always up to CBSA if and how long someone is allowed into Canada.

There is no specific rule regarding the number of days you have to be outside of Canada to re-enter. However generally speaking, you want to be spending more time outside of Canada than inside of Canada within any given 12 month period to avoid having it look like you are living in Canada.

So if her allowed stay ends on April 15th and she is leaving on April 10th, it makes no sense to apply for an extension to her stay.
