I am a student from India hoping to attend uni in Canada .I want to visit my cousin's in us before my collage starts.i would like to know of it's okay if I go visit my folks in the US and enter Canada from

Hi Siddharth, do have a valid travel document for the US? A US visa?
If yes, then it shouldn't matter from which country you come from - right up to the port of entry in Canada.
Your passport shall already include the Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) for Canada and your actual study permit shall be issued at the Port of Entry to Canada.

Just one key thing, while filling the custom deceleration form, don't forget to check that you are coming through USA.
