Hello, PR expiring soon and I'm working on the application to "renew" and get a new one.
The "Document List" #12 on the PR application guidelines says:

"Proof of Language Proficiency

Since July 1, 2012, most applicants to Provincial/Terriorial Nominee classes in semi or low-skilled professions that fall under Nation Occupation Classification (NOC) skill level C and D are required to complete a language proficiency test from one of the folliwng designated agencies:

IELTS (General Test Only)
CELPIP (General Test Only)
TEF

You must include a copy of your language test with your application to CIC"

I'm trying to determine if I need to do this English test or not. AND if I have to, what level/score do I need?!

Do I need it? It says "most" applicants are required to complete it. So obviously not everyone needs it, I don't know what a "Provincial/Terriorial Nominee class" is, and I don't know what a "Nation Occupation Classification (NOC) skill level" is either. And I have already renewed my PR twice and never heard of these things or have done a language test. I got my first PR almost 10 years ago after marrying my husband (A Canadian). Looking more into the English tests stated above, they seem to be all about proving your language proficiency so you can enter colleges/universities. I'm inclined to think that I don't need it but it does saying in bold letters to include it at the bottom! And it does not say "(If Applicable)" Next to it like other optional parts do.

If it is required, do I just need a passing grade? Or do I just have to do/ "complete" the test, like it literally says in the instructions?. What if pass is required and I can't pass it? I risk loosing PR status even though I'm married to Canadian and have a family and home here now?

Why is there so little information and instructions about this step? Where can I find the details and answers to these questions?

You must be looking at the wrong instructions. No language test is required to renew your PR card.
