Hi dear all,

I am filling out the forms now and havd a question:

In one of the forms there is a question about spouse English skills. As my spouse is native so I can tick Yes. But then it is written: Provide evidence. But we don't have any evidence as he hasn't done the IELTS test (because we have enough points).

Is it alright to tick Yes without sending any evidence to CIC? Any suggestions?

Should this cover note be a A4 paper attached to the form? Or a small note paper?

If your spouse hasn't got an IELTS or any other language credential result, you are supposed to write NO as you do not have proof.

Hope this clarifies.

If you write YES, you have to provide proof. Pls do not make a mistake here.

Also, better if you ask your questions in the main forum where many expert members can advise you on this.

It really doesn't matter. You won't get points for your wife's English and you don't need these points in the first place. Your wife's being native does not improve your chances for getting a PR as long as you decide not to materialize this into points. If you want to answer Yes because that's the truth, fine, CIC will not penalize you for not presenting an evidence for your answer. You just won't get points, and that you already know

However, if you prefer to be more meticulous than what is actually needed by CIC, you may follow people's advice here by presenting a cover letter to justify your answer
