Hi,

I am hoping to apply for Canada skilled migration.
I hold a 3 years Diploma in Electronics and Telecom and I did work as a Technical Officer in the field of telecommunications but it is was before 2004 (before 10 years). For the last 6 years I have worked as an Engineer in the same field.

Since I don't have a degree I cannot apply for Telecom Engineer category and it is not there in FSW 2014 list either.

Since I have a Diploma, would it be OK if I apply under Communications Technologist? It comes under 2241-Electrical and electronics engineering technologists and technicians n FSW LIST 2014. (It matches to my qualifications but my current occupation is Engineer)

Appreciate your advice.

Regards

The important thing would be for your job duties to match those of the NOC you apply under.

your education does not need to match to NOC. Your latest Jobs and responsibilities need to be as closely matching as possible.
If your duties are matching as that of an engineer, you may want to check NOC 2133.....Remember matching of duties is important not your designation

Thanks a lot for your valuable advice.

Still I have some confusion.

Each NOC has its own Employment requirements, For example,

NOC2133 Electrical and electronics engineers
•A bachelor's degree in electrical or electronics engineering or in an appropriate related engineering discipline is required.

NOC2241 Electrical and electronics engineering technologists and technicians
•Completion of a two- or three-year college program in electrical or electronics engineering technology, computer engineering technology, telecommunications technology or an equivalent is usually required for electrical or electronics engineering technologists.

"If the important thing is matching my duties to the NOC I apply and not the education...."
If my job duties match with NOC2133, can I apply under it even though I don't have a degree?

Hi,

Please... I am expecting your clarification for above. I'm a little bit confused.
Do they accept Diploma as a qualification if I apply under an Engineer NOC category?
