Hi all,

I have a question. I'm wondering if I can take an online course (1 course) in the summer while engaging in full-time internship in the summer. The condition of my study permit is the following:
  • (iii) although they are permitted to engage in full-time work during a regularly scheduled break between academic sessions, they work no more than 20 hours per week during a regular academic session
Any adice? I've heard that if a person is on a work permit, he/she can take online courses for duration less than 4 months.

I think the word "regular academic session" is important here. Since you are taking a course at a time where it is not your "regular academic session" they this condition should not apply. I would suggest that you do that single course part time as if you do it full time it could count as continuing your academic studies.

All of this is if the course you are doing is outside your program. If the course is part of your program then it would be a continuation of your studies. The ideal thing would be to avoid all this , but if you have to then I think it is possible.

Do note I am just an amateur giving an opinion. You follow any advice of mine or other members at your own risk.

the course is from an online learning institution that can transfer credit to my current program. Is there any way to make sure?

It would be better to talk to your program co-coordinator or International students adviser.
