There is no engagement visa. You can come as a tourist and stay for up to 6 months. You will not be covered by health care and you will not be allowed work. Do not bring all your stuff to the border if you are planning to come on a tourist visa. You will very likely be turned back and even blacklisted.

You can also try to get a work permit. You could even come on a tourist visa, try to get a job offer and apply for work permit and you would just have to leave the country for your work permit to get issued and then you could move all your stuff because you will be living in Canada legally.

Your boyfriend can not sponsor you to immigrate to Canada until you are married unless you qualify to apply as common law, that is if you have lived together for a year.
