I am very much new here in Canada I arrived last December 28 2017 and I have a job now. So my boyfriend and I decided to get married before I leave for Canada but we were so afraid that it will be a problem in my papers because when I was filling out the forms that my mother gave me I was SINGLE. Afraid that it will be a big problem when I arrive in the immigration we decided to postpone our civil wedding. Now I am planning to go home next year and I don’t know the arrangements and the steps to take to get my future husband. Or, I also want to know if there’s also another way to get him even if we’re still not married, because if he can come here without us being married we plan on having a civil marriage here in Canada. Someone please give me advices on how to get him as soon as possible. Pleaseeeee thankyou

Just to clarify, had you at any point in time lived together with your boyfriend continuously for 12 months before you landed in Canada as a PR?

1) If your future husband could get a visitor visa to Canada, you could have your marriage here while his visitor visa is still valid, and then you sponsor him for Permanent Residency "Inland"......apply for his temporary work permit or apply to extend his visitor visa.....as both of you must have legal immigration status in Canada during the period the application is processed "Inland".

2) You could travel to marry him outside Canada, and then sponsor him for him for Permanent Residency "Outland". Only you the sponsor must return to Canada and be resident in Canada during the period the application is processed "Outland"
Your future husband will be able to join you in Canada when successfully issued the PR visa....processing time for either "Inland" or "Outland" cases (about 80%) is currently around 12 months.
