Hi,

I want to ask my employer to write me a letter, but I have some concerns. I am planning to send in my application end of DEC or early JAN. I am getting married Dec 8 in Seoul. I am quitting my job at the end of Nov so I can go on this trip to get married.

1. Should I get my employment letter right before I leave, or can I just do it now?

2. Should it say that I plan to quit my job in November for the wedding? Or should it just mention details of my current employment and then leave that out?

3. Should I ask my employer to to say that I am taking a "break" from my job and possibly may return at a later time? This could possibly happen as well, I don't think its a lie.

4. Does it really matter?? My wife has no children so I don't have financial requirements to meet. I'm confident I can find another job quickly in my industry (culinary). Am not going to be on any social assistance. I'm just worried that writing unemployed sounds bad and might be a couple points against me.

Can't your employer hold your job for a leave of absent ? Do you want this just for tax purposes for the option c and letter from employer . I honestly don't think you should write unemployed in my opinion. I am sponsoring my husband to and i just wouldn't take that chance .

i just don't know how immigration in canada works in ur country but in our place even u dont have a job in canada as long as u are a PR card holder or citizen ITS UR RIGHT TO SPONSOR UR SPOUSE.RE:EMPLOYMENT LETTER IF UR ALREADY A CITIZEN OR PR IN CANADA U DON'T NEED EMPLOYMENT LETTER

Employment letter not needed since having a job is not a requirement to become a sponsor.

also, why don't you just ask for a leave of absence from your employer instead of just quitting?
