I have just recently received my permanent residence. I have worked for my employer for 7 years and he had finally sponsored for my PR. Now that i have received my PR, I would like to start looking for new career opportunities. But my employer has threatened to revoke my PR if I leave the company within a year from when I received it. Is this allowed?

Your employer can not revoke your PR once you have landed. If you had applied under PNP and were in the process of getting your PR, your employer could have withdrawn his sponsorship and you could have lost your application but once you have landed, your PR is safe. Your PR has nothing to do with your employer any more, it is between you and immigration.
