Hi there
I'm and Australian citizen and I'm applying for Canadian Permanent Residency. I live in Canada but I'm going to file an application from Outside of Canada (at the office in Sydney Australia).

I had my medical done on Tuesday but the clinic I went to had no idea what an Upfront Medical was. They told me no one can do an immigration medical without filing their application first and I insisted I could. After I called my lawyer for verification they said they'll look it up. They went online and found the eMedical format and told me they were doing it through eMedical. However, when I finished the medical they didn't give me anything to prove I had completed my medical. I thought I was suppose to get a 1017B form.. When I called them back they said "Umm..... yeah we don't know". How does CIC know I've completed my medical if Idon't have anything to send with my application?

I then called another clinic who knew exactly what an upfront medical is and told me I should leave the clinic with a form with my photo on it (taken digitally at the clinic). I've know called them six times and Iget the same response..

Would it be ok to just get another medical done at the clinic that knows what they're doing?

I am sure someone else will answer. But, personally speaking, that is exactly what I would do. Go to the office that know what you are talking about. Pain in the butt/wallet, but this way you can be at ease that it was done properly.

The other thing I would suggest is to make sure you add an explanation along with your application. Give the date (Tuesday) and the name of the office that you went to, briefly describe the issues you encountered and why there may be 2 medicals on file.

Also, since they are supposed to be a designated medical practitioner it will let CIC know not all the offices they are affiliated with know what they are doing.

Good Luck!

Hi,

I had the same ordeal.

check my post here

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/medical-form-imm-10117-and-new-medical-procedures-t135662.0.html

you should get a print out http://i49.tinypic.com/2ibyf7k.jpg instead of 1017B if the clinic is emedical enabled.

Thanks so much!! I appreciate your help.

It sounds like the easiest solution is to go to the other clinic and pay for the medical again... We live and learn, I guess :)

TTL,

I have sent you a PM, please respond.
