Hi, my name is Debanjana and I need some assistance.

I live in Canada and holding a spousal open work permit. I am currently working under an employer located in BC.

My husband is holding a closed work permit which is valid till 14 Dec 2020 so as mine. Due to this pandemic situation it is uncertain to extend my husband's work permit so in that case am I eligible to apply for a closed work permit(LMIA approved) if my company supports? What is the rejection ratio if I apply?

If your employer can get an approved LMIA, you should be able to easily switch over to a closed work permit. There shouldn't be any risk of rejection.

Thanks for your reply. Before how many days of the expiry(existing WP) I should apply for the closed work permit? Generally how long does it take to get the LMIA? If LMIA rejected once within how many days employer can apply again?

LMIAs can easily take 4-6 months. Your employer should start now. If the LMIA is refused, your employer can apply again immediately after addressing the reasons for refusal.

IRCC needs to receive the application for the closed work permit before your current work permit expires.

Ok I understood that I have to ask my employer to start the process now. If they apply now and till my current WP expire if the LMIA approval won't come then will I be able to continue my work?

You can only continue working if you submit your new work permit application before your old work permit expires.
