Eligibility for work permit in Canada

I wanted to know that when applying for work permit as a student do we have to be a full time student for six months and then apply or a full-time student for the semester that I would be taking when I am applying?

As a student applying for work permit you have to be a full time student and besides that the rule for applying is the following:
If you start studying in September 2013 you may get your WP since March 2014.
If you start studying in January 2014 you may get your WP since November 2014.
"6 months of studying" means actual time of studying Summer break is not taken in consideration.

Need your Answer.... Am going for Jan 14 intake....its a PG diploma Program with duration of 8 months...
When can i get the Work Permit ??? started on Jan 14 ????
