Dear forum members,

I would like to kindly ask your input on the following.

My sister would like to apply for Express Entry under FSW stream. She is a lecturer/research (engineering) at university and has several years occupying this role. Although she is university permanent staff member, she is currently not summing up to 40h / week but quite less which seems typical in such occupation ; her office time is basically split between lectures, research and lab assessment. Please note it should not be problem for her to obtain a reference letter in good standing.

She is considering to apply as FSW under NOC 4011- university professors and lecturers.

Can anyone advise if this could fly or will this preclude any rejection for example due to the limited number of total hours/week? This is just to know what to expect and plan for the worst...

Anyone with similar experience?
Thanks very much in advance

You should provide more details. How many hours per week? How long has she been doing this job? Was it continuous? etc.

Sure. Weekly number of hours is between 8h to 12h to deliver academic work to student (lectures, lab assessments, exam corrections, etc.) and research output (conference, articles, etc).
In addition, her work typically required certain amount of preparation upfront; this amounts to approx. 8h to 18h per week.
Preparation does not require mandatory physical presence at the office, so quite often this was done on split basis home/office.
She works approximately 8 months on a 1 year period, in line with the academic study periods / semesters.

Finally, over the last 10 year period, she has occupied this role above described for a total of 3 years as academic staff member.
For the remainder, she has been on leave in order to take care of newborn/ children at home.

I trust to have informed sufficiently. Any hint as to her chances of success under NOC 4011 going for the FSW stream?

Thanks in advance
