Hello everyone,

I am doing masters from University of Regina, currently I am on international student permit visa. I wanted to know that is there any way that I can transfer my student visa to work permit. I wanted to apply for my field oriented jobs but I don't know what exactly is the procedure and whether am I allowed to apply for a field oriented job? I am not talking about part time or summer jobs! Usually job portals have this question that whether you are eligible or not to work in canada.... I do have a co-op work permit and a work permit, but that work permit allows me to work as a part time.

Please let me know that whether I can request the company that if they are going to provide me the work permit then I will give a break to my studies and will work for them?

Thanks

First you will need to find an employer who is willing to offer you a full time job. The job can be in any field but it would be better if it's related to your studies or past experience. The employer will then have to obtain an approved Labour Market Opinion. This process takes anywhere from 6-20 weeks. Once the LMO is approved, you must then apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer. (The company doesn't apply for the closed work permit - you do.)

Note there is no guarantee the LMO will be approved and also no guarantee your work permit will be approved (even if the LMO has been approved).
