How does this work. How come the conservatives win the other day but now there is talk of them losing power so soon and have the immigration rules revoked and back to the old process?

can someone please explain.

No party has enough votes to rule alone so the conservative government is a minority government.

In the last election, they added more votes indicating that more people were happy with them but still, if all the other parties get together
and declare that they lost confidence in the government, they have enough power to take over.

There is no particular reason they say they don't have confidence in the government, just the fact that they would like to be in power.
