Hello - my American husband moved to Canada on Aug 10, 2019, as a PR. He is a freelance set builder working in commercials. All productions have been canceled or postponed and nothing is scheduled on the horizon. I know that, as his sponsor, I'm financially responsible for him but I'm wondering if anyone knows if he is eligible for economic relief under the federal government's COVID-19 response efforts?

I believe EI is different from Welfare. No Welfare is what they say. EI is available once you qualify.

If he has worked the required hours and meets all other requirements. EI is not welfare.
