Effect of US green card surrender on PR renewal/citizenship?

I am Canadian Permanent Resident and I have an approved US green card that I have not activated yet. I am wondering what would be the effect of activating my US green card and surrendering it later in case I choose to stay in Canada. I expect to meet the residency requirements for PR renewal and citizenship comfortably.

Would the fact I held a US green card and Canadian PR at the same time affect my PR renewal or citizenship application?

Thanks for the reply. Is it because of the new bill (C6?) that foregoes "intent to reside" or regardless of the bill it wouldn't matter?
Wouldn't matter regardless.

Thanks. Folks on another US immigration forum have claimed the following:

1. Once you activate your US green card, you cannot use your Ontario provincial healthcare OHIP as a Canadian PR even if you physically reside in Canada.

2. Living in Canada as a Canadian PR would mean that you have abandoned your US green card.

Are these both claims true?

1. This is nonsense. A U.S. green card and OHIP are in no way related.

2. The U.S. has fairly strict rules regarding residing in the U.S. to maintain green card status. If they feel you aren't residing in the U.S. and remaining out for long periods of time because you live elsewhere, it's certainly possible to lose your green card status. You'll get the best advice on this question on the US immigration forum rather than here.
