I've been working full-time TEER 1 job since March 2024, and assumed that my 1 year experience will be awarded points only in March 2025. However, as I created EE profile, it has included 40 points for canadian work experience. Data entered is correct. Does it mean its calculated from March to Feb?

This is a very common "issue". IRCC counts months, so March to Feb is 12 months. Doesn't matter if you started working on March 31st, it'll count the 12 months on the 1 of Feb.

Have you received an ITA? If you do receive one before completing your full year of work experience, wait until you do before you submit your application.

Hi All,

My brother submitted his application when he just started working here in Alberta Canada making him not able to get additional points for Canadian Experience.

Now that he is turning 6 months at his work this February, is there a way for him to update his application for Canadian Experience?

Like maybe update his profile or something or send a mail to IRCC (just thinking out loud). Let me know.

FYI: His job is under Tourism and Hospitality which requires atleast 6 consecutive months of work experience.

Thanks

For CEC you need a full year (12 months). If he entered his start date in the EE profile, it'll update automatically.

Have you looked at how many people are already in the hospitality pool? Essentially the same as Alberta’s PNP allocation for the year. Hopefully you are trying to explore other options and not counting on this stream. Unless you have very specialized skill in demand and have a high score it will be very tough to get selected.

Where can you check that info? Is that different from this one below?

Stream or pathway of interest identifiedNumber of expressions of interest currently in the selection pool
Alberta Opportunity Stream30,591
Dedicated Health Care Pathways (Express Entry and Non-Express Entry)1,067
Rural Renewal Stream3,183
Tourism and Hospitality Stream4,737
Alberta Express Entry Stream:
  • Accelerated Tech Pathway
2,594
  • Family connection and occupation in demand
2,326
  • Law Enforcement Pathway

  • Priority sector draws and other initiatives

What is really important is the quota allocation for each category. For example if only 500 ITAs this year for 4700 hospitality workers the odds are not great.
