I am going to apply for CEC under NOC 2072. While i was checking the HRSDC website it says under Employment Requirements.

A bachelor's degree, usually in computer science or in mathematics
or
Completion of a college program in computer science is usually required.
Computer programming experience is usually required.

I have done my Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering.

I have 8 years of relevant experience but do not have any certifications related to 2072.

Questions:
Will I face issues/ rejection because my education does not match my experience?
Should I do some relevant certifications to enhance my profile?

Thanks.

There are do some cases rejected because what they study is different with what they actually do .

but I know . lots of people in electrical engineer work in computer science .

because they have similar subject, like c programming.

I don't know how to handle it well,

but it shouldn't be a problem can't be resolved.

it is not like you study in medical , then your job is build bridge .

Code NOC 2072 doesn't exist.

It would be a good idea to post also the full title so we can help you.

I'm going to assume you meant 2172, http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/Profile.aspx?val1=2172

But to answer your question, no, your study program does not have to be the same as your occupation, and the employment requirements are not mandatory (except in the case of regulated occupations like medicine). The fact that you have relevant experience (as will be documented in your background declaration) is a plus, but not totally necessary.

Thanks for your quick response :) .

Yes. I meant NOC - 2172 (2072 was a typo).

Do certifications add value to the application? If so, i can complete some certifications.

Also, is there a way by which I can explicitly mention the courses (like programming, mathematics ) relevant to my profile that I took in my engineering in the application?

Thanks for your help.
Regards.

I guess they wouldn't hurt, but there is no evidence they will actually do any good.

No.

No. Not unless they are REQUIRED by the occupation.

They are not relevant to the CEC application.

If you have to worry about something, worry about meeting the actual application requirements. Don't invent more! : )
