Hello,

I'm facing a rather strange situation.

The private educational insitute I am studying at, wants me to sign a new contract with more financial obligations after I arrived or else they won't allow me to continue!

Is this allowed?? Can I report this to CIC. If so, how can I contact CIC?

regards,

CIC doesn't control private educational institutions or any educational institutions for that matter - so reporting this to CIC will do nothing.

Which private institute has done this? Many private institutes aren't regulated by anyone and can make their own rules. So there may be nothing you can do. This is yet another reason why it's a bad idea to study at a private institution and most of us recommend against it.

Maybe it's time for you to switch to a public institution.

Thank you for the reply.

How can they invalidate a signed contract for no reason but to get more money from me!! If they insist I will report them to every single institute that relates to education in Canada.

So you think the best option is to switch to a public university. I think I need to notify CIC to do this right?
Do you know the process?

Thanks in advance

Impossible to say without seeing the contract. The first contract you signed may have a provision that allows them to change the contract once you have arrived. Again, depending what institution this is, there may be no one you can report this to and nothing you can do.

Yes - I would change to a public college or university.

I would pull out of this so fast their heads would spin. First of all, check cic.gc.ca that the private institution is on the approved list. If not, you are up brown creek without a paddle once you graduate as you wouldn't get a PGWP.

Secondly, rules are changing on June 1st and one of the reasons is to remove unprofessional institutions from receiving international students. The current list will more then likely be amended at that time as well.

Get yourself in to a program at a public college or university that is on the current approved list.
