Edmonton office timeline

Hi, I am June 2017 Outland applicant and got my confirmation pr on 30th July. I am currently living in Canada so I called Cic to book an appointment and they told me Edmonton Office will contact me in 6-8 weeks. So I wonder is there anyone had an experience recently with Edmonton office? How long does it take to contact? Can I go there without appointment? Because there is no phone number
