Guys, till you wait for the comments from Umair, let me give you some of my experiance
We landed in Toronto in Jan 2013 (-25), we went from Saudi (extremely hot climate), we had
a 3 yr old with us,Canadian winter can easily be handled if you have proper clothing, your children will enjoy the weather/snow more
this was the case with us. Provided you dress accordingly i.e. dress in layers, gloves, mufflers, beanie (Tuque)
also try searching "Dressing for Canadian winter" on youtube

I shall be flying for Edmonton in 1st week of sept.this year. I am little bit worried that I have two children 2.5 & 6.5 years respectively. Is it difficult to stay in their in severe winter? I have taken non-professional 10 years validity driving license with 5 years exp & 5 years remaining expire from Bangladesh. Shall I get Alberta license with my present license? Moreover,I am an Accountant, shall I get book keeper or cashier job initially before taking any training or bridging program? If I can not manage my entry level job with particular profession; will it wise to engage any king of job initially in order to survive? how much pay for survival job?

After sever attempt through my relative I could not manage my rent flat. Thats why I shall be searching after reaching there. Any body have information regarding house or flat rent ? I want to boarder from mid sept. Pl.help me.

Dear All, Although I had reserved a month ago 4 PIA tickets for our family to travel to toronto on 21 December, when I asked about onward travel to Edmonton it came to know that it is almost 2700 KMS from Toronto to Edmonton, and each family members additional fare comes to almost 48,000 Rs. which become costly. Now I have asked my cousins in edmonton to arrange which they say QATAR AIR goes directly to edmonton almost in same fare, may be 5% higher then PIA to Toronto. So any one going to Edmonton get flights of Qatar Air, as their first stop will be vancouver and all immigration process will be done there then a connecting flight will take us to edmonton. I think it is better idea to get to Qatar Air. as its route is Islamabad-Doha-Vancouver-edmonton, looks safe.

Please further search and comment!!!!!!!!!!
I am provincial nomination for Alberta, what about immigration process, will it be in Vanccouver or Edmonton ?

Hi Usma,

The initial immigration process will be completed in Vancouver as that is your first point of entry to Canada. After that you will be catching the domestic flight to Edmonton. Try to have enough transit time (e.g. 4-5 hours) in between the Vancouver and Edmonton flights.

Fuad
