hi MAX_LEE
thnx for the helpful info.

but can i ask, how do u know that if e-cas shows "Med......... Received", it means that the bg. check is done & dusted? i am just trying to b confident that if my e-cas does change to "Med......... Received", then i will know that i am thru.......

plz share

shibleebd, don't worry this is not just my statement, this was confirmed by me with Buffalo,CIC when I personally went to get my visa stamped, as it took nearly 8 months after my medicals to receive my PPR, hence I was concered when I went for my Passport stamping if I should expect anything later, The VO in Buffalo was kind enough to explain the entire process and how the E-cas is updated and the various steps involved, tha's why I was so confident in what I have posted. So once you see "Medicals Received" status in E-cas be rest assured you will receive your PPR in a couple of day, say max 3-4 days.

Hi Max thanks for ur post. Just wondering what makes the delay between turning the E cas status "In process" to Medical receipt?? Do you think bckgrnd chk might be a reason... Its been over 50 days my E cas status hanged in "In process" but yet not received Med request..... Any comment from your exp of sharing with a VO at Buffalo?

Thnx

Fariza,

As I have mentioned earlier background check timeline depends purely on the number of countries you have visited where you have stayed for more than 6 months. Take my case, It took 8 months from the time of medicals to the time is received my PPR, not that it takes that long for everyone, just that I was in 4 different countries after my 18 years and that was the reason for the Background check to take that long, especially if you were in the middle east for sometime it could take that long.

as u can see from my side signature that my visa office is London. so, will the same rule apply for London CHC as well?

Sorry, I am not sure about how London office does, would be interested though, lets see if any seniors answer this.

As mentioned earlier my experience is for applicants of Buffalo CIC, I am not sure about ND CIC, as you have already submitted your PP and paid RPRF I presume it would not take that long, also there are others from ND who have got their PP Stamped much faster after sending them, so you should not get worried about the timeline I have mentioned.

Thanx Max. I'd been to different countries and stayed over 6 mnths but it was for my higher studies and I did submit Police clearence with fingerprint... I thought that would be enough for the bckg chk as it was clearly mentioned not to have any criminal convictions.... don't knw what takes them so much time in the name of bckg chk!! Anyway I also beleive that it depends on Visa office and also on their workload..... Number of applicant rising day be day and the files are piling up............. Someone gets lucky to get through but probably in general we are suffering a lot!!!
