What does the difference in E-Cas Status between Application Received and In Process

Scenario 1:

E-Cas Status is Application Received and when you click it says,

We received your application for PR on ....

Medical Results have been received

Scenario 2

Ecas Status is IN Progress, when you click it says

We received your Application on PR on ..
We started processing your application on ..
Medical Results have been received


So, which scneario are we actually closer to PPR and what does IN Progress actually mean? We started processing your application on ... Does this refer to processing your background checks??

Both scenarios are sameand closer to PPR

My E-Cas status has been saying in process from 2008 so i doubt it means any closer to PR
